About 'F is for Flowers'

The relationship between people and flowers is not to be sniffed at. It has been visually documented for millennia. Reasons for giving and receiving flowers are immeasurable but quintessentially and understated, they are the universal language of love.

My love of paint, texture and colour was not the only motive in producing this body of work. After the intrusion of restrictions, incarceration, social fragmentations, containment, and social concern, I was impelled to lighten the load for myself as an artist. Or so I thought…

The challenge to capture the completeness of a well-considered, visually pleasing image remained. Preparation for composition, lighting, setup is like designing a full-scale theatre production. Nearly.  As an artist I aim to create an illusion on behalf of the viewer, so painting from nature’s fresh and fragrant beauty was a delight to all my senses and indeed lightened my load in the most pleasurable way.It is my hope that these paintings lift your spirits just like me and mother nature intended.
